If you’re looking to get a tattoo/ permanent makeup removed or lightened, it will almost always, require more than one session. The amount of sessions depends on a few factors.
Whilst we can never guarantee how many sessions it will take, one of the big factors is the colour(s) that are to be removed/ lightened. Considering that the depth and saturation of the pigments are also major facors, the below is based on the assumption that these are the same.
Because of the small molecule size, black, browns and dark blues are the easiest (fastest) colours to remove. When removing a tattoo with multiple colours, these colours will appear lighter whilst other colours may remain looking the same.
If your artist makes a mistake or you want to cover a tattoo, NEVER let them do so with a white or skin toned pigment/ ink. White, flesh (or skin toned) colours are the hardest to remove and need many more sessions than any other colour. This is the worst way to correct tattoo/ permanent makeup work. Especially because in the beginning it usually covers, but over time whatever is under the skin tone will blend with it and show through.
Be wary when getting any camoflauge tattooing as white/ skin toned pigments can change colour over time and can turn to look like a gross cottage cheese look. These colours are very difficult to remove so make sure you do your homework before getting anything like that done.
Whilst this article can't shed any light on to exactly how many sessions are needed (the most commonly asked question when it comes to rmeoval), you can get a good understanding of what to expect.
