Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the last few years, you've probably heard of microblading. It's is one of the hottest trends and looks like it's here to stay. Why? Because it's an amazing technique that can fill in those spare brows, can give shape and colour to bland looking brows. And the result looks no natural, you'd never know it was permanent makeup!
Microblading has put permanent makeup (PMU) back in the spot light!
Powder brows is microblading's long lost sister. She's always been in the family, although she may have been forgotten about since the new baby's arrival (microblading).
Powder brows have been around for a very long time. This technique has been preformed since the dawn of PMU. Over the years, techniques have been improved and no longer are people walking around with giant blue eyebrows (well, to a certain extent).
It's a beautiful technique that results with your brows looking like they have a light powder on them. It's great for anyone that wants more definition and shape. It can be customised to your taste- light and airy to dark and bold. The best part about this treatment is that it is suitable for every skin type and skin tone.
So why have you never heard of powder brows? Well, because just as the microblading trend took the beauty industry by storm, everyone and their sister wanted to capitalise off of it. Hundreds of 'training' courses popped up offering a certification and an income of thousands of pounds per week to anyone that could pay the money to do it.
Microblading is a bit like the gateway into PMU. You learn the basic skill set, but that's it. Most of the classes offered are only a few days long at max.
Doing powder or ombre brows requires a completely different skill set as a machine is used to implant pigment, rather than a manual hand tool as with microblading. In order to gain this knowledge, more courses are needed and it's not cheap.
Simply put, the reason why you may not have heard of powder brows is because allot of microblading artists don't offer it.
I believe a good artist should make honest recommendations as to what will suit you according to your skin tone and skin type. Microblading is not suitable for those with oily skin, but if your artist doesn't offer powder brows, you would never know.
So now you know! Now you have the choice!
