10 of The Worst Tattoos to Get

Dana Depta • 23 February 2020

Don't Even Think About Getting these Tattoos

Let’s face it- tattoos are more popular than ever! With that being said, tattoo removal is the most popular it’s ever been! At least three in ten people regret getting a tattoo.

Through all of the removals I do, there is a consistent trend to what people want removed. Want to know which tattoos are the most regrettable? These are the top ten tattoos to never get:

10. Dirty Jokes or Crude Puns
Sure, when you’re young, you might think that by getting a tattoo that says ‘Exit Only’ over your ass is funny. It’d be cool to get ‘Suck It’ on your stomach... Totally cool, huh? Well, chances are that when you grow a bit older (and a bit wiser) that you will be embarrassed to take shirt off at the beach. Don’t waste your money.

9. Fads or Trendy Tattoos
In the 90s, it was tribal and tramp stamps. When the 2000’s rolled in, stars (especially nautical stars) were popular. Now, I’m seeing allot of feathers breaking off into little birds, roses or lions on hands, and believe it or not- face tattoos. Don’t go out and get a tattoo because it looks cool on Pintrest or on a celebrity. You will almost certainly regret it.

8. Anything in a Foreign Language (that you don’t speak)
This seems like common sense, right? Well, you know what they say about common sense... it’s not that common! These are the most embarrassed clients I get. The one’s that say ‘I know I should’ve checked...’ I have recently read an article about a guy that wanted an Asian character for, ‘Lover of Asian Beauty’ and it read ‘Foreign Pervert’. Check it out before you ink it!

7. Flesh Colour
This one mostly applies to permanent makeup (cosmetic tattoos), but it’s crazy how often I see it. If an artist makes a mistake- do not let them cover it with a flesh toned colour! If you have dark circles under your eyes, don’t even think about it. Yes, this all looks great when it’s just done. But through time, the colour will change and then it looks like awful!

6. Bad Cover Ups
You have already spent money on getting a shitty tattoo. Maybe it wasn’t as much as you should’ve paid to get it well done. Or maybe you didn’t do your research into getting a good artist. Now, you want it covered up. Don’t make the same mistake. Cover ups are much harder to do than normal tattoos and they should be done by artists that specialise in them. Otherwise, you're just going to get a bigger, shitty tattoo.

5. Spontaneous Tattoos
Just because you go to the tattoo shop with your mates doesn’t mean that you have to get one too. If you’re on holiday and you see a tattoo shop, you don’t have to get one to ‘remember your holiday’. Skip the dolphin on the ankle and take some good photos instead.

4. Not Well Thought out Tattoos
If you haven’t put any thought into it or you’re getting a tattoo because you want one, but you don’t really know what- don’t.  It will be there forever.

3. Tattoos Done by Unskilled Tattooists
Notice how I didn’t use the word ‘artist’? There’s a difference between tattooists and tattoo artists. You should spend time on choosing the best person for the tattoo you want. Always check out their work before committing. Never choose a place or person based on the price. In the end, you will pay more to get it removed or covered up.

2. Writing That has not Been Spell or Grammar Checked
Great that you’re getting a tattoo in your language, but bad idea to think that you’re a Spelling Bee Champ or Grammar Queen. Double and triple check all writing. Check spelling, check grammar and check to make sure the font you chose is legible. Remember, as it ages, the ink will expand a bit. Spacing is important too. Once you’ve checked it, have everyone in the shop check it. Once it’s on, you can’t erase mistakes!

1. Names
You knew this one would be at the top of this list, didn’t you? As much as you called it, many others don’t. They’re in love and they’ll do anything to show it...including getting their partner’s name inked on them. Tattoos are forever and unfortunately, love is not (in allot of cases). Skip the tattoo and get your other half a piece of jewellery or something.

Did you make the mistake of getting any of the tattoos on the list? Did you get it removed? I'd love to hear your thoughts on any that I may have missed. Leave me a comment below.

Why Tattooed Eyebrows Turn Yellow after Laser Removal & How to Effectively Remove the Pigment If you're experiencing yellowing of your tattooed eyebrows after undergoing laser removal, you're not alone. This is a common issue that many people face when trying to get rid of eyebrow tattoos, especially those that have been done using older ink formulations. The good news is that with the right approach and the help of an experienced professional, you can successfully remove yellow pigments and restore the natural look of your brows. In this blog post, we’ll explain why tattooed eyebrows turn yellow after laser removal, what steps you can take to further remove the pigment, and how I can help you with this process, leveraging years of expertise in tattoo removal. Why Do Tattooed Eyebrows Turn Yellow After Laser Removal? Tattooed eyebrows often turn yellow after laser removal due to the nature of the pigments used in the tattoo ink. Many eyebrow tattoos are made with inks that contain red, blue/ black and yellow to make up different shades of browns. When these pigments are broken down by the laser during the removal process, they may react differently based on their chemical composition. Here’s why this happens: 1. Pigment Breakdown: Tattoo removal lasers work by targeting the ink in the skin and breaking it down into smaller particles. When the laser hits the tattoo ink, the pigments may not always fade evenly. Some pigments, particularly those with red or orange undertones, can react to the laser by turning yellow or even greenish, as they interact with the skin’s natural undertones and the laser's energy. 2. Incomplete Removal: In some cases, laser treatment may not fully eliminate the tattoo pigment on the first pass. When pigments aren't completely broken down, they can settle in a different hue, such as yellow, as they attempt to dissipate. 3. Ink Quality and Composition: The quality of the tattoo ink used plays a significant role in how the pigments react to laser removal. Lower-quality inks, especially those used in eyebrow tattoos, may contain substances that change colour or behave unpredictably when treated with laser energy. Yellow can also be used as a modifier in pigments. Often, blue and red can be removed easily, leading to the yellow to be leftover as laser ‘doesn’t see’ yellow. Can Yellow Pigment Be Removed? Yes, yellow pigments in tattooed eyebrows can be removed, but it may require additional treatments. While laser removal is effective at breaking down tattoo ink, not all pigments respond the same way. Yellow pigments, in particular, can be tricky. However, there are options available to help ensure the complete removal of stubborn yellow hues. Why Choose My Services for Eyebrow Tattoo Removal?
